We will pick you up at your hotel or residence in Quito at 09:00.
This is what you'll experience:
1.- From Quito we drive towards the eastern Andes. At the highest point of the road, 4,063 m (13,333 ft), we stop to take photos of the Antisana Volcano and surrounding páramo landscapes (weather permitting).
2.- Next, we visit GUANGO Lodge, a birdwatching reserve ideal for observing hummingbirds, including the unique sword-billed hummingbird.
3.- Enjoy a nature walk along La Isla Trail – part of the Papallacta Hot Springs protected area. The path is located at 3,300 m (10,826 ft) and covers 1.2 km. It's perfect to discover native Andean flora.
What's the difficulty level? To give you an idea: I recently did the walk with two travelers aged 66 and 67. Completing the loop took us 1 hour and 23 minutes, with many photo stops along the way.
4.- Time to relax in the volcanic thermal pools of Papallacta.
The complex offers everything: more than seven pools for adults and children, showers, changing rooms, towel rental for $1, secure lockers, snack shop, and an on-site restaurant.
